President Obama addressed the nation last night on his plan to respond to Syria’s use of chemical weapons against its own people. He spoke of Russia’s offer secure the handover of Syria’s chemical weapons, urging Congress to delay any votes on military action that his Administration initially supported. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee had approved a resolution to authorize an attack, but the Senate will not vote on it unless it is clear that the Syrian regime does not satisfactorily cooperate with Russia and the international community.

As the country observes another anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the Association of Flight Attendants, a group of airline personnel unions, is asking Members of Congress to pay $1.5 million out of their personal funds to cover the remaining costs for the Flight 93 National Memorial. The group says that Congress authorized the memorial but did not provide the funds to complete it.
